There is an abundance of wildlife in the surrounding area, which is a naturalist's dream, with habitats ranging from Alpine tundra to Atlantic rainforest, deep peaty lochans to fast flowing rivers and the open ocean.

Glen Loy Wildlife

Starting spring 2008 Glen Loy Wildlife will be offering specialist holiday packages based at Glen Loy lodge and focusing on the abundant wildlife and wide range of habitats in the Lochaber area. Jon and Angela are both keen naturalists and look forward to providing visitors with a closer look at what makes the area special.

Packages will include full board and transport to sites. We will include visits to a range of sites including montane, coastal, woodland, freshwater and peat bogs. We will offer specialist days looking at birds, butterflies, wild flowers and much more.

For those who prefer something more active and for those looking for a family holiday we can arrange outdoor activities such as mountain biking, canoeing, climbing, canyoning, hillwalking etc.

For more information keep an eye on our web site

Local Wildlife

Even within walking distance of the lodge visitors can explore a wonderful range of habitats. Stepping out of the front gate the road into the glen follows the River Loy which is flanked by beautiful oak woodland with its abundance of flowers in the spring.  At the head of the glen is a remarkable stand of ancient Caledonian pine wood. Red deer, roe deer and a wide variety of woodland birds are readily seen.  Lucky visitors may even get to a close view of one of the resident pine martens or a glimpse of a soaring eagle.
